How to use alerts to understand your waste stream

Notify your team about changes to your waste stream when it counts the most.

Setting up an alert

Setting up alerts is a quick and easy process. Start by navigating to the “Alerts” tool in the Analyzer portal. From here, follow these steps:

Prefer to read? It's a simple process:

  1. Click “Add”
  2. Give your Alert a relevant name
  3. Select which application you would like to create alerts for
  4. Select which category you’d like to monitor on that application
  5. Set your alert type (currently Mass purity, more to follow)
  6. Choose your operator (would you like to be alerted when this category is greater than, less than, etc. your value)
  7. Set your alert value
  8. Set your material throughput minimum for the alert to be activated; this allows you to to set a minimum throughput (in kg/h) below which alerts will not trigger
  9. Click save

For example, if monitoring an Aluminium product line, an alert could be configured to monitor an “Aluminium target” category, and to trigger an alert whenever the purity of that line drops below 95%, by selecting “less than” as the operator, and “95” as the value. If the material throughput minimum was set to 50kg/h, this alert would also only trigger when the average throughput seen was above that volume.

Getting notifications for your alert

The Analyzer portal can send SMS or emails when alerts are triggered. To do this, go to the Alerts screen, select an alert, click the “more actions” three dots, and select “Recipients”.

From this screen, you can add recipients (must be users of the system), and select which medium to notify the user (email or SMS) and how frequently (immediate notifications or summaries of alerts sent every 10 mins, 1 hour, half day or daily).

Monitoring alerts in real time

Once you’ve configured alerts, you can visualise them in real time using the Alerts dashboard. Click here to find out how to set this up.
